ancient thought on us

material from Plato, about menstruation..

"... the womb is an animal within a woman which is desirous of bearing children. If this desire remains unsatisfied for a long time, the womb becomes restless and starts to wander about the body; as a consequences, the passages for breath becomes blocked, and this causes distress and 'disorders of all kinds'. The problem will continue until the woman has sex with a man and becomes pregnant. "

while Aristotle says

" ... women can conceive without feeling pleasure, and feel pleasure without conceiving. "

-Sue Blundell, Women in Ancient Greece

well it was a good assumption since they had no further intelligence and technology to distinguish the main reason behind such behavior of the women in the ancient times.
